Heart For The Holiday Craft (#TBCCrafters) 02/06/14 6

“Heart For The Holiday” #TBCCrafters Hop

It’s getting into February already, wow – is it only me, or does time seem like it’s flying?  Someone told me as you get older, it seems like time goes faster…but..um…I’m not old…yeah….so that’s not it!! ha/ha  I saw a technique like this one in a magazine I was reading and thought it would be fun to make as a craft for a Valentine gift.  You could change these up however you wish, I just wanted to share the basics on how to do it.

Please be sure to comment and share this #TBCCrafters craft, I hope you like it!!

“Heart For The Holiday” Craft

Materials/Tools Needed:

  • Construction Paper
  • Heart Shaped Cookie Cutters
  • Plastic Baggie
  • Paint/Glitter/Glue
  • Craft Punch (not necessary)
  • & Time!

Instructions:

Start by folding the piece of construction paper that you will be using in half to be able to see which will be the front, the size, etc.

Next, wrap a heart shaped cookie cutter in a plastic baggie and be sure to hold up the center, unless you want a full heart glue shape.  Dip it in some glue and “stamp” it on the front of your card, wherever you wish.

heart

Once you have stamped it, you can sprinkle the glitter over the glue to “color” it.  Shake off the excess and save for another craft.

Now to add a bit more, I used a smaller heart shaped cookie cutter and wrapped it in aluminum foil.

Once you have it wrapped (which you don’t need to do if this is only for crafting) you can dip it in some paint and then stamp it on your card.

Now I decided to use my punch to make a shape that I could use for added embellishment.

heart

Once you have your shape punched out, you can cut it in 4 pieces to resemble hearts.  If you’re lucky enough to have a heart-shaped punch, then disregard these steps and then send it to me!! ha/ha

heart

To finish it, you can glue the hearts on, add whatever else you want and then put a cute saying in the card.  I decided to make it for my husband and give him  a smile.

Hope you like it!  Leave me a comment and let me know what you would do different, or what you would add, etc.  Be sure to tweet, pin, share, etc. – thanks!!

Very cute. I love the use of the cookie cutter for a stamp.

How cute! This reminds me of when I was younger and in grade school we would make Valentine’s Day “mail boxes” out of shoe boxes!! Aw, I miss those days! 🙂 It always made this “holiday” so exciting… But as you get older, it just gets depressing if you’re single – LIKE ME! ha ha ha aha ha!

Hey, I have a lot of cookie cutters. This is such a smart way of using them and I love the idea of using plastic bags and aluminium foil to wrap up for stamping. I am addicted to keep my cutter 200% clean like new, hahaha.
