The First Christmas Night book by Keith Christopher

I started reading this book “The First Christmas Night” by Keith Christopher, figuring it would just be another Christmas story or something like that.  It turned out to be so much more.  The poem inside is based on a common Christmas song that does not give God the glory for the celebration of Jesus’ birth.  This book helps to change that.  Beautiful artwork and a great use of words, I was very impressed.  I know my son is older, but this will be one that will be part of our Christmas tradition that helps to give praise to the Lord and make the Christmas holiday focus on Him and not the things that the world tries to get the focus on.  I was very happy with this book!!

The First Christmas Night

About The Book

The First Christmas Night is a beautiful retelling of the birth of Jesus on that joyous night in Bethlehem so long ago. The poem begins with the arrival of Mary and Joseph in Bethlehem and winds though Christ’s birth, the angels’ appearance to the shepherds, and the visit by the Wise Men. The simple, yet elegant, verses will appeal to little ones and are accompanied by the rich acrylic illustrations of Christine Kornacki.

’Twas the very first Christmas when all through the town

not a creature was stirring—there was not a sound.

The moon shining bright in the heavens so high

gave the look of midday to the Bethlehem sky.

The animals were nestled in warm, cozy places

with looks of contentment on each of their faces.

My husband is a Pastor so much of our time is not on ourselves but others. We as a church make a Float and ride through town at night through the month of December singing Christ Carols and giving out Gospel Tracts and Candy to all ages. We are making gift baskets foe the widows. We focus more all reminding people that this is a time of year for us to totally forget about ourselves and focus on he real reason we celebrate Christmas and that is because of Gods’ only son being born in a manger such a lowly… Read more »

I love this and helps people remember the real reason we celebrate Christmas. We always bought for our kids just like all parents do but we never let Christmas go by without reading the Christmas Story from Gods’ Holy Word.

When my children were little we always put the youngins to bed early cuz Santa was coming. I had 2 younger children and 2 older children. The 2 older children would take turns or we would flip a coin who went to midnight mass with me the other stayed home & babysat the little ones. Midnight mass was usually with Gramma, but I must confess sometimes we all went. I love midnight mass always did. It’s so beautiful, and they always do the procession with bringing baby Jesus to the manager, and all the people were live no statutes, and… Read more »
