“April Fools” Spill – #TBCCrafters (03/27/14) 7

April Fools’ Spill” #TBCCrafters Hop

So Tuesday is April Fool’s Day.   April Fools’ Day is celebrated every year on the 1st. It’s not a national holiday, but is widely recognized and celebrated in various countries as a day when people play practical jokes and hoaxes on each other.  Did you know that in Italy, France and Belgium, children and adults traditionally tack paper fishes on each other’s back as a trick and shout “April fish!” in their local languages?  Crazy, huh?

The earliest recorded association between April 1st and foolishness, is an ambiguous reference in Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales (1392).  Many writers suggest that the restoration of January 1 by Pope Gregory XIII as New Year’s Day of the Gregorian Calendar in the 16th century was responsible for the creation of the holiday, sometimes questioned for earlier references.

I usually always try to do something fun for my family, is there anything that you do?  You’ve heard the norms of the Saran Wrap on the doorway and the nozzle of the sink left on with a rubber band for that surprise when they use the sink?  Well, I saw this one on Martha Stewart‘s site and thought it would be fun to try out and use on my husband and my son….ssshhh….don’t tell!!

I hope you like it!! Have a blessed day, and please be sure to comment on and share this #TBCCrafters craft!!

Place an old mug on a parchment-lined cookie sheet; drizzle the “spill” in and around mug.

Use a spoon to flatten the mixture out and make it as even as you can – it will settle on it’s own, so it doesn’t have to be perfect.

When the mixture is dry to the touch (might take up to 4 days), gently peel away the parchment paper; then let the paint dry completely, which takes about 24 more hours or so.  The times depend on the temperature you store them at, if it’s dry, etc.

Now, put it somewhere to fake out your family or friends and enjoy the laughs that you get from it.

I sure hope you like it!  Please take a minute to leave me a comment and let me know what you would do different, or what you would add, etc.  Be sure to tweet, pin, share, etc. – thanks!!
